Description
Have you tried everything to heal from autoimmune illness and still the symptoms remain or have worsened?
Are you constantly looking out for the triggers, hyper-alert and vigilant to avoid the things that will send you into a spiral of decline?
Do you feel like your life is getting smaller and smaller; that you aren’t able to participate in life because your illness has dominated you and stolen your freedom?
The rise of autoimmune illness has baffled many medical professionals and sadly affects millions of people all over the world. Many people feel that their body is betraying them and attacking itself, and this can be very stressful causing additional pressure. Many feel misguided, misunderstood and victim to an invisible illness. Unlike a broken bone, their symptoms cannot be seen, measured and swiftly responded to.
Once diagnosed with an autoimmune illness, it’s not uncommon to feel relief initially. But this provides little consolation as symptoms worsen and begin to affect every aspect of life in debilitating ways. I find people suffering from autoimmune disease are committed, determined and resourceful. They have literally tried everything to heal, including consulting with multiple medical professionals, natural and alternative treatments, changes to diet, self help and relaxation/meditation/spiritual techniques, and therapy. Yet despite their best efforts, symptoms continue to persist, their condition worsens and hope declines. Family members watch on from the sidelines, feeling helpless and concerned.
In my business, I have worked with many clients who have been diagnosed with autoimmune illness. Many tell me their illness has robbed them of their independence and ability to participate in life. Sadly, autoimmune disease has changed them. They tell me about their multiple triggers, how they preempt what is going to happen in their world and how they have to be hyper vigilant in their environment as anything can send them into a health crisis. They tell me about the time they have spent researching their condition in the hope of finding a new cure, and how they hate getting stuck in the doom and gloom of it all. Some have even gone so far as disclosing that they began to identify with their diagnosis.
This month in Happiness Seekers Online we will be focusing on reversing the symptoms of autoimmune illness.
